Understand the Optimization Workflow
The Optimize tab in Frase helps you fine-tune your content for two audiences:

SEO Optimization improves your ranking in traditional search engines like Google by suggesting relevant keywords and semantic topics.

GEO Optimization (Generative Engine Optimization) helps your content surface in generative AI experiences—like chatbots and large language models—by scoring for clarity, authority, and structure.
At the top of the tab, you’ll see a Combined Optimization Score showing how well your content performs across both dimensions. Below that, expand the SEO Optimization and GEO Optimization panels to review individual scores and topic-level suggestions.
Use the SEO Optimization Panel
Frase compares your content to top-ranking pages from search results to recommend semantic topics that improve your SEO performance.
Each topic shows:

How many times you’ve used it vs. the average usage across competitors

A copy icon to insert it into your content

A blacklist icon to exclude irrelevant terms from your score
Sort and Filter Topics
Type

Long Tail: Only multi-word terms

Top Topics: One- and two-word terms
-
Clusters: Grouped by themes
Status

Topic Gap: Keywords your competitors use but you don’t

In Progress: You’ve used it, but not enough

Completed: You’re on par or ahead of competitors

Overuse: You’ve used it too much (over 3% of your content)
Explore Topics
Click Explore Topics to see how each competitor uses each keyword.
Pro Tip: Aim for an SEO score at least 30% higher than the average competitor score to increase your content’s likelihood of ranking.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) helps your content perform well in AI-driven platforms that summarize, generate, or recommend information.
Frase calculates a GeoScore based on three dimensions:
1. Authority
Score higher by citing credible sources and using data-backed statements.

Add full links and context for any referenced material

Avoid vague or unsupported claims
2. Readability
Content should be clear and easy for both humans and AI to parse.

Use concise language, short paragraphs, and active voice

Grade-level scoring helps identify overly complex sentences

Hover over flagged sentences to view rewrite suggestions

Click Replace to apply the suggested revision
3. Structure
Organized content is easier for AI to interpret.

Break up dense text with bullet points or numbered lists

Ensure a logical flow of ideas
